Banks is a partner with Deloitte Tax, LLP with over 30 years of transactional tax experience serving private equity clients.  He served as the Managing Partner of Deloitte’s Washington National Tax (“WNT”) practice from 2017 to 2024.  Prior to leading the WNT practice, Banks was a member of the Special Acquisition Services group for 20 years and was the co-leader of the group from 2013 to 2016, leading global cross-functional M&A services to private equity clients specializing in large buy-out transactions.  Representative transactions range from $500 million to $45 billion.  Banks currently leads the tax practice’s corporate development team and is a member of the Deloitte Tax, LLP Board of Directors.

Banks received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He served as the president of the New York Carolina Club, and as a member of the board of the General Alumni Association.
