On August 15th, Triple Tar Heel and UNC Tax Center Academic Fellow, Mary Margaret Frank started
as the dean of the Kenan-Flagler Business School.

We are excited to welcome Margot Howard as our newest UNC Tax Center Research Scholar! Margot returns to
UNC as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Accounting after earning her PhD in 2015. Margot’s research interests include how tax policy relates to investment, financing, and reporting decisions. This upcoming year she will teach financial
accounting courses to undergraduate and MAC students.

The Tax Foundation’s
annual staff meeting
As part of his role as a member of the Board of Advisors to The Tax Foundation, Jeff Hoopes,
Research Director of the UNC Tax Center, presented at The Tax Foundation’s annual staff meeting as the keynote lunch speaker in Washington DC. He spoke about the role of tax academics in public policy and on taxing book income.
