I recently emailed this to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Here’s hoping…
Representative Ocasio-Cortez,
I am the chief curator of The Tax Museum, a collection of thousands of tax-related artifacts housed here at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (examples of some of our items can be found at thetaxmuseum.org). I would like to inquire about your willingness to donate the stunning gown that made its debut at the recent Met Gala, emblazoned with the slogan “tax the rich”. We here at The Tax Museum would be honored to be the home of this gown. We would be happy to pay relocation costs. And, should the need arise for the gown to be reworn, we would be happy to ship it back. Please let us know about the possibility of your donating this stunning piece of political/tax art to The Tax Museum. Thank you for considering this request.
Sincerely,
Jeff Hoopes
I told a colleague about this curation effort after I sent the email, and, he recommended I ensure Representative Ocasio-Cortez that I would only display the gown, and, would not actually wear it. So, if any of you know Representative Ocasio-Cortez, and, can pass that along to her, I would appreciate it.
